Hans and Lars-Arne have been working with SAP since 1994 and are passionate about optimizing business processes. Over the years they’ve been part of several different company setups and built up a wealth of experience along the way.
Hans and Lars-Arne’s story in SAP began when they worked for Tetra Pak in Lund. Lars-Arne was already working there with four colleagues when Hans arrived as a consultant. They spotted an opportunity as SAP started growing and there weren’t many consultancies in Skåne that could help companies with implementation.
SAP sold like hotcakes thanks to the Y2K bug. Every company needed to update their systems, and six people from Tetra Pak founded a SAP consultancy together. The company grew to 45 people with offices in Lund, Gothenburg, and Stockholm. In 2003 they sold to Maersk Data, which was later acquired by IBM, making them part of a global corporation.
In 2006, Hans and Lars-Arne founded a new company together with 15 co-owners in total, which grew to 30 employees.
Today Hans and Lars-Arne run Reponova. With 30 years of experience in entrepreneurship and consulting across various company setups, they’ve learned what works.
Times are tough for the industry in general, but SAP isn’t particularly sensitive to economic cycles. There’s an enormous installed base, and SAP is currently going through a major version migration from legacy systems to the new S/4HANA. Many large companies are right in the middle of that rollout.
The biggest threat is a shortage of skills. Many experienced SAP consultants are retiring, and that’s going to be a serious problem for both SAP and its customers. That’s why Hans and Lars-Arne encourage newly qualified IT consultants to consider a career in SAP.
